Folktales & Legends is an effort to prove that beyond the face of a war-torn, tough nation are a people who have a vibrant culture, a love for music, poetry and storytelling. It's an effort to look at the Pathan up close.

Miangul Abdul Wadud Badshah Sahib, in his autobiography The Story of Swat, described pakhtunwali in the following words, it is ‘the name given to the valour, sense of honour, and les non scripta of the nation…hospitality, generosity, bravery, truthfulness, straightforwardness, keeping of a promise, patronage of the weak, giving of shelter to all including enemies, moral courage in claiming one’s rights, sacrificing one’s life for personal as well as national honour, dying in the name of religion, and a number of other desirable attitudes and worthy traditions.’

In his book, The Pathans: A  Sketch by Ghani Khan, he attempts to explain the way of the pathans with examples from different aspects of the culture. He uses what he calls his scheme,

“I shall make him sing his love songs to you, so that you may feel the throb of his heart;

He will tell you a fairytale, so you may listen to what he tells his child.

He will tell you a story of an incident in his village so that you may see how he lives.

He will talk to you about the moon, so you may see how he loves.”

Following in the footsteps of Ghani Khan, we took his scheme and threw in some modern gizmos and the magic of technology to present to you this project.

Welcome to the heart of the Pukhtoon.
